The Borrowers

This is the my last challenge on CDA for this quarter. The challenge was based on the Borrowers. I hadn’t heard of the Borrowers until this challenge and what a happy surprize it was. If you aren’t familiar with them either, here is a link to You Tube where you can watch the 1992 version. You will have to click to the next parts as you go.

This is my doll entry. She is Homily Clock. There weren’t many scenes of her knitting, so I decided to focus on that.  Homily made her outfit from scraps of fabrics that Pod found for her, including an old watch band to use as a belt. The apron is from a bag of Pistachio nuts. The shirt is from a scrap of old t-shirt with enough left over for a pair of pants. You can’t really see them, but they are there. She was able to make some leather slip ons for her feet and the skirt is from a scrap of old curtain fabric.

She also has some nice wooden beads to keep her hair tidy and some jewellery bits that Pod found on the human beings dresser. He also found some toothpicks and scraps of wool, enough for Homily to knit them all scarves to keep them warm. The little mini plant saucer was a great find for her foot stool.

The best find of all was the little tea set, now Homily will be able to entertain when company comes to visit. The “boy” in the house, was able to sneak some furniture to them from the dollhouse, so Homily is feeling very happy to have such luxuries.

rkhomily7webAThere may be more additions to the Clock family in the near future…. the coordinator for the challenge is hooked on the Borrowers as are we all, so I expect there will be more to come…
