I was trying to find a pretty vintage lace doily like the one that Cindee Moyer used on her doll, but I think what she found is just so perfect it would be hard to track something similar down, it was one of those “aha” moments. Also the doily needs to be a rectangle shape and that makes it harder to find also. Everyone seems to focus on round or oval doilies…. sigh!!!
Not to be deterred from my objective, I decided to crochet a doily. Why not. It doesn’t have the lovely vintage look of Cindee’s find, but it will work in the end. I just made up a simple repeat pattern and once she’s dressed, I think she’ll look pretty good..
She’s coming along well. The next parts will move along faster now that her body is done. Costuming is always so much fun, it’s when the personality starts to come through. Finishing stages coming up…
Love the crochet. It should work beautifully. Your doll is going to be wonderful.
