Have you heard of stair boxes. I hadn't until a few years ago when I did this painting class. A stair box for those who don't know, is a box that is designed like a split level house, one part fits on one step, the next part fits on the next step. They generally have a handle on them as well, but this one isn't used in the traditional sense.
They are used for putting things in when you have a lot of things to carry up stairs. As you find things to go up, you just add them to the box and when you have everything together, you can just pick up the box and take it in one trip, rather than several. Anyone who has a split level home knows what that's like.
In this case, I just position it on the steps and put a nice big poinsettia in it and that always looks really decorative. The pattern on this goes around two sides. If you're a painter and are looking for a brilliant red to paint Santa's, go for Delta's Opaque Red. That's what I used on this and it just shines the red through...
Love the stair boxes,I bet it is beautiful with a poinseta sitting in it on the stairway. If only I could paint like you.
ReplyDeleteHi Charlotte, As my teachers always said over and over...it takes practice practice practice. You just have to keep at something that you want to do and as you go along, you will get better and better. I'm so rusty, but I am going to do a couple of painted ornaments to get my brushes going again... Thanks,Romona
ReplyDeleteThese are absolutely fantastic, I love them all.......you are some artist. Love ya, Kat
ReplyDeleteNEAT stair box and a very clever idea! Your painted pieces are lovely, Ro, and I do hope you get back into it....not enough where it takes away from your beautiful dolls but just where you can enjoy both. :)
