The other day was just one of those days that you would like more of. I walked to town for my exercise, did my shopping, stopped into a couple of shops to say hello to the shop owners, share a cup of tea and headed home. A great one hour of walking plus between stores. Then I got busy in the garden for an hour and a half of heavier yard work. You know the kind, cutting back all those things that went crazy when the weather finally warmed up and we got some showers. Got that done, cleaned up and decided the house needed some fresh flowers. I have some very pretty White Phlox, mixed with some Agapanthus, Sedum as a filler and a lone yellow pompom Dahlia to complete the bouquet.
While I was out there, I decided to check on the peaches. They are just now turning the corner to being ripe.....oh they are so good. I brought in the first few from the tree. Don't they look yummy !!!!!
Then I got busy and pulled some carrots and found this recipe on a site for gluten free baking. These are energy bars made with, what else, some of my carrots. They are not overly sweet, so would not suit someone who likes sweet bars like this, but are perfect for anyone watching their weight or that has a gluten sensitivity. If you want to try them or just want to see more of the site, here's the link. Gluten Free Recipes Just scroll down and you'll find that and others.
To finish off my day, I got a lovely surprize in the mail. My good friend Serena sent me a gift. I knew that Aussie magic ointment was on the way, but she also sent me a couple of extras to go with it. Thank you Serena, I will enjoy my gifts and the ointment is already doing it's job.... ;o) That was a great day !!!!!
It sounds like you had quite a productive day, Ro. The peaches look yummy! How rewarding to know that you used your own home-grown carrots in the energy bars. I will try them too, thanks for the link.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you liked your gifts ~ :)
Hi Serena, I think you will like the energy bars, they don't have the sweetness to them that store bought ones do. I don't have that craving for sweets like I once did, I'm happy about that.. ;o)
ReplyDeleteGood ol' Paw paw ointment. It's good stuff! All my family use it. BTW I love you 2008 motto!
ReplyDeleteHi Nic,
ReplyDeleteNice to hear from a new viewer to my blog... Isn't that motto just great. It spoke to me...;o) Romona
