I’ve had the kit for a little while and decided while the snow is falling why not work on project while staying nice and warm indoors. </p> <p>This is a kit I purchased from a seller on Etsy that is from Ukraine. Those artists in Ukraine are truly amazing. You can find Wonderland Ukraine <a href="https://www.etsy.com/shop/WonderlandUkraine"><font color="#0000ff">HERE</font></a><font color="#0000ff">.</font> </p> <p>Everything you need is included in the kit. They use wood cuts for beading on. I think it’s like an MDF board. It’s a medium density fibre (MDF) wood product. It’s made by breaking down hardwood or softwood residuals into wood fibre. Then combined with wax and a resin binder and formed into panels using high temperature and pressure. It does not off gas and is in incredibly hard. </p> <p>Every colour of bead is individually packaged, as well you will receive all the necessary parts to complete the project. They even include the felt to attach to the back to cover the stitching. Very simple to assemble. Take a look at the Etsy site, they have a great variety of unique projects to choose from. Here is my finished piece.</p> <p>All you have to provide is some glue to stand the hummingbird up in the space provided. After you stitch the pin cushion together, you first glue a circle piece of wood inside the base, then glue the pincushion into the base. I used a glue stick and it seems to be holding well. Enjoy…</p> <p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAkGR4Y7Vtilc2KqNHbgcOjS4hjXA7RbxMDVLYtNlc8aMEVT8tYd1Uhd8gOrKUHq3AbcIQcUvUTNCbXo6ejEoMXgXxDbzXwiDTxE-CWAm6_N5f9knImZJbF_T97erKrKsYRacmcLa-CWYs1CbLshVtZ03bAI9cUVcZy0VAC844xzZH9HCyy4WaNpevBL8/s1944/DSC05271.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1944" data-original-width="1168" height="703" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAkGR4Y7Vtilc2KqNHbgcOjS4hjXA7RbxMDVLYtNlc8aMEVT8tYd1Uhd8gOrKUHq3AbcIQcUvUTNCbXo6ejEoMXgXxDbzXwiDTxE-CWAm6_N5f9knImZJbF_T97erKrKsYRacmcLa-CWYs1CbLshVtZ03bAI9cUVcZy0VAC844xzZH9HCyy4WaNpevBL8/w422-h703/DSC05271.jpg" width="422" /></a></div><br /><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiy6p8r-y0EdRhkWF15n7SwGQKP7itHbHpzPMifJ7GR5Hgw2Cv8feYk8WnglKx5U0KmWlAE3XayUkNd-BshowGtL_F8X_KVxtUVaP4iLOR0K-vEOU4BNscqVmqskl7s_-gw8V6oJ6sINf9F6KCxTtg_ZfC9oiH4s9RMx4WPETObElOjmTbJW01oia-cEU/s1944/DSC05270.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1944" data-original-width="1581" height="526" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiiy6p8r-y0EdRhkWF15n7SwGQKP7itHbHpzPMifJ7GR5Hgw2Cv8feYk8WnglKx5U0KmWlAE3XayUkNd-BshowGtL_F8X_KVxtUVaP4iLOR0K-vEOU4BNscqVmqskl7s_-gw8V6oJ6sINf9F6KCxTtg_ZfC9oiH4s9RMx4WPETObElOjmTbJW01oia-cEU/w428-h526/DSC05270.jpg" width="428" /></a></div></span></div><p></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-59747382119827579272024-01-18T10:09:00.001-08:002024-01-18T10:09:00.735-08:00Missing Pictures on Posts<p>UPDATE:</p> <p>There are many posts missing the images that go with the text. I’m hearing it’s a Google issue and I’ve also heard it’s a problem with the software I use, Open Live Writer, or a combination of both. I don’t know the actual problem but some comments I read, say it has something to do with a change in plug ins or other that has changed in Google.</p> <p>In any case, some bloggers are missing years of images, so let’s hope it’s corrected soon. Not sure when it will be fixed, but in the meantime I will be adding back the images that aren’t showing. If there is a post that you would like to see the images for, you can still click on the image names below the text of each post, and they will still display, although you will have to do them one at a time.</p> <p>Hopefully this will be corrected soon. Thank you..</p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-8928312788246779232023-10-10T14:51:00.001-07:002024-01-16T11:43:07.198-08:00The Plaque Doctors<p>The first cases of bubonic plaque or the Black Death were discovered in the 14th century. There were doctors known as the plaque doctors, who at great risk to themselves, and without the type of protective measures available today, went through their communities, at the request of the villagers, to attend to the sick and dying during what could only be described as a horrific time in history. </p> <p>This doll is my original creation, the design is based on what references I was able to find online regarding the plaque doctors. This doll is dedicated to those courageous doctors, then and now. Included are the many doctors and other health care professionals and in the real scientific community, during the last three years, who stood up on behalf of humanity. They stood up against the pressure of those who would try to silence them. Their jobs, family relationships, and their daily lives were regularly threatened, but they continued on to do what was right.</p> <p>Most have lost their medical licenses and pretty much everything in their lives, but even with that, they still continue to stand without faltering. They showed, by collecting data and by extensive research, how dangerous the so called vaccines are, and not really vaccines at all, just poisons created to test on humans, as guinea pigs. At the same time they were exposing the truth of the last three years, these brave health care professionals and scientists of all stripes, have also exposed those who have been involved in this vast deception.</p> <p>Many doctors that complied and took the shots, for fear of losing everything if they refused, have passed away. In Canada, there has been, the last I heard, over 100 doctors that passed soon after receiving the shots. While all of those who passed, may not have been as a result of the vax, it is still hard to accept so many deaths of young and middle aged doctors dying so close together. Media outlets will of course deny all of this, they are paid to say those things, but use your own ability to discern the truth from fiction. Follow the money and you will understand. Now on with the doll and how it came together.</p> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=10iWUIhVmyrP5BQAMSfqbDcS8n31YDvqH"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=10iWUIhVmyrP5BQAMSfqbDcS8n31YDvqH"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEij5xnVkU8G19RthjDRNPztqFWUmPTaR-JWVueHL3URBLc6mjEs9_2h7gSz55nSyR_c5p3zWvXDtgFmaFajhCKMG9_jx0L93_3c1LAovtRLaIqvfAJNXDu3nu48-iCgrYqpo5GhBlqjz__RZ0pt3yqkvQC_eGOYS7uCncx2Icvrj3hr8lHsK1Zx8CxCX2k" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="50" data-original-width="400" height="40" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEij5xnVkU8G19RthjDRNPztqFWUmPTaR-JWVueHL3URBLc6mjEs9_2h7gSz55nSyR_c5p3zWvXDtgFmaFajhCKMG9_jx0L93_3c1LAovtRLaIqvfAJNXDu3nu48-iCgrYqpo5GhBlqjz__RZ0pt3yqkvQC_eGOYS7uCncx2Icvrj3hr8lHsK1Zx8CxCX2k" width="320" /></a></div><br /> <p>Something I’ve never tried before, was to map out on the doll’s body, all of the steps to complete the doll. This is just the top, I repeated this on the bottom half. None of this will be seen in the finished doll.</p> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=14KfNSalwJeZvLJ5JjdxCoCWkPY6Qrr_Z"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=14KfNSalwJeZvLJ5JjdxCoCWkPY6Qrr_Z"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgDFCBdIQq9sn0LmDWb1cbs9wLkhGNtueWAuAvSebYUM2IN3dwpnI3ma1ZBzskNcpVdaN_npqYhoYLvUP_QQH1lp1tSxxP0ZsNKCVWSvX7uZwMz2Y5jfF1j3ulbq3SkmwMMH8-Y8tMcGRZw2j63mmhL7yr3rFzCULd7F9trXsD6seei7CDvNx0MNfYHbdk" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="966" height="401" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgDFCBdIQq9sn0LmDWb1cbs9wLkhGNtueWAuAvSebYUM2IN3dwpnI3ma1ZBzskNcpVdaN_npqYhoYLvUP_QQH1lp1tSxxP0ZsNKCVWSvX7uZwMz2Y5jfF1j3ulbq3SkmwMMH8-Y8tMcGRZw2j63mmhL7yr3rFzCULd7F9trXsD6seei7CDvNx0MNfYHbdk=w505-h401" width="505" /></a></div><br /> <p>Using the reference pictures and articles I found, I made a number of embellishments to complete his look. But wait, he also needs hands, feet and of course a head. I also made a companion for him with a little touch of artistic license. His clothing, including his hat, is almost all leather (from a bag of jacket leather pieces donated to my doll making adventures). The only part that isn’t leather is his shirt. </p> <p>His head, hands (made to look like he’s wearing gloves), and his boots, are made with polymer clay. His companion is also clay. All the embellishments that include oranges, garlic, the top of his staff are clay, the staff itself is a wooden dowel. I made a leather book and included a history of the Plaque Doctor, and explanations of what is included with his clothing and why. The last part of the embellishments, are his belts (one is inside), the other around the waist outside where I have added a pouch that contains his notebook. </p> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_toPcP1SgfEruntWWmcXjL2VQHiDUmla"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_toPcP1SgfEruntWWmcXjL2VQHiDUmla"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEibiqge7l4FU8vs1Zlu8gmxA9H9wAcpKPZrBxV3G6qKwjETmwn5tMmsz-p-ETSzMg6v2A7Io0vrJ5fHe_Q8iQZDdd4d--zyLCxiE11ZCSPmd_ahZ3tCLwos8zCmJxxKN4d5Cz9QlxUXw6KsPLBe9s5ugV-emnmbd6RpwMGHdg9jpFIvPAGiSJqPgK9qXWg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="902" height="436" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEibiqge7l4FU8vs1Zlu8gmxA9H9wAcpKPZrBxV3G6qKwjETmwn5tMmsz-p-ETSzMg6v2A7Io0vrJ5fHe_Q8iQZDdd4d--zyLCxiE11ZCSPmd_ahZ3tCLwos8zCmJxxKN4d5Cz9QlxUXw6KsPLBe9s5ugV-emnmbd6RpwMGHdg9jpFIvPAGiSJqPgK9qXWg=w512-h436" width="512" /></a></div><br /> <p>The first part of his costume are his leather pants, his shirt made with tiny wale corduroy and cube beads for buttons Around the waist over the shirt is a leather belt. Again, like the map in the first step, this won’t be seen but as a doll maker, I believe in doing all the steps to complete the doll, even those that will not be seen without exploring much closer.</p> <p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19jGDGDJQMO4lB_0llDid6MV94zkaS7mh"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhW5il1L0RLXNJ8vwCPPGlOC_CI2BTu1qtxzessFGoNbt1RjIPYwhCTU2v5xu9A7InNLXFoxOtf9wa7hGn4pFv4qkj0B5DJS3f8XsHhjfyiY36-J7_Xx-dNuCjWZxrR3_hHImufQI6unx07mobNE8DBcy-ymrx87i2bq-Z1B2hSEzJx060ftJfzova3ahU" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="700" height="329" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhW5il1L0RLXNJ8vwCPPGlOC_CI2BTu1qtxzessFGoNbt1RjIPYwhCTU2v5xu9A7InNLXFoxOtf9wa7hGn4pFv4qkj0B5DJS3f8XsHhjfyiY36-J7_Xx-dNuCjWZxrR3_hHImufQI6unx07mobNE8DBcy-ymrx87i2bq-Z1B2hSEzJx060ftJfzova3ahU=w299-h329" width="299" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjwui853GQK_pSXiiUeeGFvhMTYXTERewf7qqeRJ3Bix8l6uCl_xWzckesZsZdks2jDKTbV9AohvO1xHN6qAh4EFq-KOYcKD_M87fwYycID-M2uh3V3YYxcoA8uTVirmTxXgPkCuxkJ-MfeBWBzztxsOmFO0gUrdzWnfdNrhMrwNgyWb2Jh0TW2fL-BIds" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="470" height="378" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjwui853GQK_pSXiiUeeGFvhMTYXTERewf7qqeRJ3Bix8l6uCl_xWzckesZsZdks2jDKTbV9AohvO1xHN6qAh4EFq-KOYcKD_M87fwYycID-M2uh3V3YYxcoA8uTVirmTxXgPkCuxkJ-MfeBWBzztxsOmFO0gUrdzWnfdNrhMrwNgyWb2Jh0TW2fL-BIds=w232-h378" width="232" /></a></div><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Ac7ZDV032p7HeH-UFwf4tkkd6aghQ-8y"><br /></a><p></p> <p><font face="Tahoma">I then added his boots. There is debate regarding the origin of the bird like mask. In practical terms, the beak was used as a kind of respirator, packed with herbs and oils, like mint and lavender to block the Masma (bad smell), and to protect the doctors from becoming infected by the bad air. The head is covered with a helmet, and around the neck is a cowl. The finish of the head are the goggles. The pictures I found show a white cloth mask, but I chose just to sculpt the simple birds head without the cloth mask.</p> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1gv7BousCa871Nd8yyHV6bAn08EJFYQ2k"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1gv7BousCa871Nd8yyHV6bAn08EJFYQ2k"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjkx2ItPl1UqmtNJFUmbTD_p74wStNBxvh0ST4cPtlM0LJ1B4uAyCCjiHwIsKvjP23ZH8ufBNDm8IfqAChfnJ3BIste5elVgqhs1Q_1_G8MG72IvlJnuzS4-EQJIhZIXcYbzWyDADZ8_wFssoewSgWeaextxIMj3EHdUdrC8dkxbhPUq__xzOw-18nZiL4" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="784" height="391" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjkx2ItPl1UqmtNJFUmbTD_p74wStNBxvh0ST4cPtlM0LJ1B4uAyCCjiHwIsKvjP23ZH8ufBNDm8IfqAChfnJ3BIste5elVgqhs1Q_1_G8MG72IvlJnuzS4-EQJIhZIXcYbzWyDADZ8_wFssoewSgWeaextxIMj3EHdUdrC8dkxbhPUq__xzOw-18nZiL4=w399-h391" width="399" /></a></div><br /> <p>The last part is always the most fun, putting it all together. There is a bundle of garlic attached to the belt. Apparently the doctors would chew on the cloves, maybe another attempt to diffuse the bad smells around them. There is a string of oranges for the same purpose of trying to cover the masma, I’ve given him a faux lantern held in his right hand. The staff in the left. The final touches are his hat, securing him, the book and his companion to the mirror base and he’s done. It’s a great project for decorating. This particular one is a spring theme. You can use any type of wool for this. The stitches are very basic, so if you are new to needlework, this is not a hard pattern to make. </p> <p>Mine is made using wool felt. You can find pre-made in yardage and in 9” x 12” pieces, available in lots of places. I used buttons and beads to embellish, but this design lends itself to adding whatever trims you have in your stash.</p> <p>The stitching is done with DMC embroidery threads, but there is no reason why you couldn’t use any type of thread. It’s just one of those projects you can really adapt to suit your decorating style. The base I have it displayed on, is one I had in my stash intended for one of my dolls. She hasn’t surfaced yet, so this pear will get to use it. ;o))</p> <p>This is the<font color="#ff0000"> </font><a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/706451073/e-pattern-apliques-de-lana-pera-lanuda?click_key=e4ad59d36b72cc525fb0431e17bb2ba89e2f43ab%3A706451073&click_sum=e0d8793d&ref=shop_home_recs_11&crt=1&sts=1"><font color="#ff0000">link to this</font></a><font color="#ff0000"> pear</font> design. Everyone should have some kind of hobbies. I push that on everyone. Being creative is good for the mind and body. It focuses your brain on something that you’re making and it also serves to help calm the mind from all the stresses we have today. </p> <p>I am waiting for that bright new day that is just around the corner. Leave the past behind because you can’t change anything back there, the future isn’t here yet, so focus on today and make each day count. So on with what I made a while ago.</p> <p>This is from a design by<font color="#ff0000"> </font><a href="https://www.mjsoffthehookdesigns.com/1-piece-v-stitch-pullover/"><font color="#ff0000">MJ’s Off the Hook.</font></a> I just happened to have the very same colour and cotton yarn destined for something else. I changed my mind when I saw this. Her sizing is very good. It comes up to what she says as long as you are getting the right tension.</p> <p>This is my version. Just love that pretty minty green, perfect for springtime.</p> <p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12I4b0Pdf0sl5EiN5QC9gO48aSyWxTA0e"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjIwzs1E69ICbhyY1EAlrbj8wNTe9EuZZcuNCmHXqoxtRQkbiWlAr5nrMlo8j7FEPD-f_BCABOgDEUnsGnkES6sNn9XZoyDXmQyf41M-tN08KTPvjzN_fcW2LsMcfNEEk83X-QDx5CvFfcyispGNFlg3HmemcUg59xEhFkYhlV_daF4iKsTE8_pYjulQiM" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="822" height="457" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjIwzs1E69ICbhyY1EAlrbj8wNTe9EuZZcuNCmHXqoxtRQkbiWlAr5nrMlo8j7FEPD-f_BCABOgDEUnsGnkES6sNn9XZoyDXmQyf41M-tN08KTPvjzN_fcW2LsMcfNEEk83X-QDx5CvFfcyispGNFlg3HmemcUg59xEhFkYhlV_daF4iKsTE8_pYjulQiM=w489-h457" width="489" /></a></div><br /><p></p> <p>Because of the open lacework, clearly you need something underneath it, or not…. depending I guess on what you like. I decided to make this sleeveless top to wear under it. A simple top from a Simplicity pattern. Any kind of top will do. ;o)</p> <p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1spArhgIlhdBCJx1vV49Ns3PK_ftpz8wE"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjUO5doEtYV-iq1nGzDuyB9hkp361Zh2EHHHVATb3eXYs21PjpAVrQ8FReqPeGdYkFIJ714F1YShTgJn7S5JTNvH93PGBc_-LAHcLE6pgB2BGKpvNk3k38nMpPREVUP9QCf4oUkeiaDlUdi4NOe47LXbQl0J_Df1V45LymG2hcFka153KM6q2t2pImua6s" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="878" height="417" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjUO5doEtYV-iq1nGzDuyB9hkp361Zh2EHHHVATb3eXYs21PjpAVrQ8FReqPeGdYkFIJ714F1YShTgJn7S5JTNvH93PGBc_-LAHcLE6pgB2BGKpvNk3k38nMpPREVUP9QCf4oUkeiaDlUdi4NOe47LXbQl0J_Df1V45LymG2hcFka153KM6q2t2pImua6s=w477-h417" width="477" /></a></div><br />Patterns like this are best because you get all kinds of options with it.<p></p> <p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1R-xFYd6P7SIq0BUoVTbq0stcaNjEYu1f"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjPdK1TPWF-2jEzG1-rzmyjy6RQWAWWpqbz1Zp9dr9YBucXg-FYhWSIzUciNkWbTLy5xCfn8SwydgCIpTOFKf1TLl1nk-lFVpbjPbDjjXXVzezaqoyp-S3F-mfmaivQfFPKwOMaTa2qGr5hjYsuA_xZ9dqz6aDIuGzG12SS2UJjO6PcEFft3p0MudInrb0" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="806" height="445" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjPdK1TPWF-2jEzG1-rzmyjy6RQWAWWpqbz1Zp9dr9YBucXg-FYhWSIzUciNkWbTLy5xCfn8SwydgCIpTOFKf1TLl1nk-lFVpbjPbDjjXXVzezaqoyp-S3F-mfmaivQfFPKwOMaTa2qGr5hjYsuA_xZ9dqz6aDIuGzG12SS2UJjO6PcEFft3p0MudInrb0=w466-h445" width="466" /></a></div><br /><p></p> <p>And here it is with the top tucked inside. I guess it's a repurposed kind of thing because I'm using clothes line cord in another way. I think it might qualify as a mixed media project since it's made with the cord and fabric strips... I made them to sit under my sewing machine, serger and other toys in my sewing room. They are easier to move around when sitting on the mats.</span></p><p><span style="font-size: large;"><span style="font-family: trebuchet;">There are different types of cord, make sure you look for 100% cotton. I also saw two sizes, 1/4" and 3/8" and I've seen it in two different lengths, 50' and 100'. I chose the 100' length to give me more options. </span><span style="font-family: trebuchet;">There is a slight difference in the finished mats depending on the thickness of the cord. </span></span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">The basic technique is just to cut cotton fabric strips the width you want and the solids or prints you like, then wrap as you sew or wrap all at once, I done both ways. I can't give you measurements for that, you'll just have to go by what it is you want. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">The large round ones I did, were on the 1/4" cord and the finished circle was approx. 19" across and that took the whole 100'. The more oval/rectangle shapes were done on the same size cord and to the dimensions I wanted. I think I used half the 100' feet for those. </span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">You can make all kinds of useful things with these materials. There is a ton of inspiration on YouTube for the technique, and on Pinterest for ideas of what to make. I have a <a href="https://www.pinterest.ca/romonak/rope-art/" target="_blank">board on Pinterest</a> if you want some suggestions. Here are my mats... This design comes from The Wooly Thread Co. on Etsy (of course). It started out as a plain wood shaker box that I've had for many years. I used to do a lot of decorative painting and this was a box destined for some design that I don't even remember. But in 2003, I found doll making and decorative painting was delegated to the archives, other than using that skill for doll making purposes.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">Here are the pictures of how the box started off to how it looks now. I am using it on my worktable for all my sewing bits and pieces that normally scatter all over the table and get knocked onto the floor. Now they have a central location, making life so much easier. ;o)</span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">First the plain pine box, then the inside which is covered with felt and a rocco trim. The outside rim is covered with a really pretty cotton, very bold print and finally, the top. The circles are recycled sweater wool scraps stitched in place with a button to embellish. The sheep is made with wool felt. The lid is trimmed with soutach around the edge.</span></p><p style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;"><br /></span></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; font-size: large;"> I can’t believe my last post was in January. Okay, yes I do believe it. I have been creating things, but pretty slack on getting them posted.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">I’ve been focused on updating my sewing space, badly in need of new things. If I can sew, I don’t want to be spending money on buying. There are some really good online sources of fabric that I’ve found. I also bought myself a new machine (my first computerized one). It’s not full of bells and whistles, but it has all the features I would use. I’ve updated all my sewing supplies and organizing my space. Almost done with that, and in between figuring out what goes where, I’m sewing simple things.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">I also spent a long time doing a big purge of all things crafty. Somewhere out there, people who like to make things feel like they’ve died and gone to heaven with all the things I moved along for them. I hope they enjoy everything and that they make their own magic.</span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">Before I got into doing all of that, I was busy starting off the year with felted table mats. Love making them, they always look so nice and great conversation starters…</span></p><p><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">This first set is from a design by Twisted Knickers on Etsy. She calls it Poinsettia but if you know me, you know I really like Jester themed projects. Of course I had to change the colours, the main mat was the pattern itself, I modified it to make two smaller ones to lay on either side of the main one.</span></p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjy0uFuOuytBp0fS7fbnw8lfTkzDKrIoWKpkZVg9xif3NBD5DcnjIUjhNTgixjMZHtNc5KtUI7ZND6oJr-v7juzIcv15xKx3vXMQVnafNyKMdGZemtcQczunoJ7xTEnf7UJ66jDZerugMEuknjhnCR8LsiVRbv-1xfA-J4mrP-sUVP70hFoBZNrCWfckLg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="756" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjy0uFuOuytBp0fS7fbnw8lfTkzDKrIoWKpkZVg9xif3NBD5DcnjIUjhNTgixjMZHtNc5KtUI7ZND6oJr-v7juzIcv15xKx3vXMQVnafNyKMdGZemtcQczunoJ7xTEnf7UJ66jDZerugMEuknjhnCR8LsiVRbv-1xfA-J4mrP-sUVP70hFoBZNrCWfckLg=w393-h400" width="393" /></a></div><br /><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjAqEm3AJIMrPsj3l-JYMve3c3HfsVlNxaJrXmij4L6B9r1YYnRl9tm6pavwEjb0zobpoi7v_q8Pj-A5lYt2eJlTzlsvYVqajJLBjEShRYjPcPWLhnd6Y70Swl_ULqfoZtCdjq-8x_I4IkQI3ogqPUwnj6XqLH_XkpB9uB74Sg5o76yDSDisbumRYhAVeQ" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="868" height="354" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjAqEm3AJIMrPsj3l-JYMve3c3HfsVlNxaJrXmij4L6B9r1YYnRl9tm6pavwEjb0zobpoi7v_q8Pj-A5lYt2eJlTzlsvYVqajJLBjEShRYjPcPWLhnd6Y70Swl_ULqfoZtCdjq-8x_I4IkQI3ogqPUwnj6XqLH_XkpB9uB74Sg5o76yDSDisbumRYhAVeQ=w400-h354" width="400" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br /></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><span style="font-family: trebuchet; font-size: large;">This next one is from The Pattern Hutch. That was in 2019, and finally now in 2023 she is ready to fly. </p><p>She is a relatively simple ornament to make. You can go in many different directions to recreate her. Since it’s not far from February 14th, I thought she would be a perfect fit for Valentines day and a suitable name too.</p><p>I dressed her very simply in a boucle type of body fabric, a red/white stretch for her lower limbs and of course, some lace to make her just a little more girlie. Her little headpiece is a flower shaped spacer and inside there is a little red heart. She has her goggles to protect her eyes during her flight and lastly, an oversized cupcake carefully balancing on her back. Mine doesn’t have wings, but you can certainly add some. She measures about 3 1/2” long.</p><p><strong>This is where you can find the instructions to make your own piggy pilot……….</strong></p><p><a href="https://www.livemaster.com/topic/2994489-handmade-piggy-pilot-christmas-toy-symbol-of-2019" title="https://www.livemaster.com/topic/2994489-handmade-piggy-pilot-christmas-toy-symbol-of-2019">https://www.livemaster.com/topic/2994489-handmade-piggy-pilot-christmas-toy-symbol-of-2019</a></p><p><strong>A couple of suggestions………</strong> Instead of making a body and head separately, then putting them together, if I make this again, I would make an aluminum foil complete piggy shape, then apply the clay over that. </p><p>Attach the wire around the body before applying clay. Then after the clay is applied and you’ve done the facial features (snout, eye position and ears), then I would insert the wire for the arms and legs. Easier to position when the basic shape is done. And here is my version….</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1le44Tgr3GP8TLXVdo9gq4Kglytdhi8vx"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtvC89KPFdDzDEyfnWtyAHpxqDtG9dNEtr_mExZHotV9A-wlrj971oFMX07GOyOWL4DI57mY8c2ZFh7oqasjSX3ScWTqqDAN3h3-hbR4OGoRBrZUF_FMTP6_97afFNX_LMjHgzWzxMljd9OmUc1RTBnaIbBkNPaePNMqnHIiDksgKAD2nE2Q0R7XPWHHE" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" height="335" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgtvC89KPFdDzDEyfnWtyAHpxqDtG9dNEtr_mExZHotV9A-wlrj971oFMX07GOyOWL4DI57mY8c2ZFh7oqasjSX3ScWTqqDAN3h3-hbR4OGoRBrZUF_FMTP6_97afFNX_LMjHgzWzxMljd9OmUc1RTBnaIbBkNPaePNMqnHIiDksgKAD2nE2Q0R7XPWHHE=w446-h335" width="446" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1TGZKFnv0e2qbyvkfHo1S7wzWgW8Jd4Dy"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1TGZKFnv0e2qbyvkfHo1S7wzWgW8Jd4Dy"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgBIljLwZmgMkAzRfYCEurBgqU45PK9LM7ovP4oQY5rGheouW9xgTC8IzrtYCSRLOVPqOIPEA-4D-SREIloSe1v9DXJjGKhRWzgJAsQjM3pxPVDMEynGs6SCz8OpGlDNJI6Esri8kYS_hV2CCgOSiSHmgUnwW16c3H-1Inlqucv56-iHqlMq-Woet0tonE" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="1024" height="336" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgBIljLwZmgMkAzRfYCEurBgqU45PK9LM7ovP4oQY5rGheouW9xgTC8IzrtYCSRLOVPqOIPEA-4D-SREIloSe1v9DXJjGKhRWzgJAsQjM3pxPVDMEynGs6SCz8OpGlDNJI6Esri8kYS_hV2CCgOSiSHmgUnwW16c3H-1Inlqucv56-iHqlMq-Woet0tonE=w447-h336" width="447" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1JPXFDac2dT8CCKyDrs6HNepVCZkbewnS"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1JPXFDac2dT8CCKyDrs6HNepVCZkbewnS"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEizlZrkUmZUieZdFCs7-5Xc0MXh0RUvmXEoTAQUeQ289uFucGRS7o9PWJDjLlWjOE-ORbgbI4Gt8c-MUTGhnv8rupZjIvUly7lw1zdG4hRdSys1fVEyNynCnevsMRgH8AamPLW6476FLyNFce0lpcviWywazdudBG4Q-lKhWFXy30tJ2ga9elFHC3mVofY" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="840" height="399" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEizlZrkUmZUieZdFCs7-5Xc0MXh0RUvmXEoTAQUeQ289uFucGRS7o9PWJDjLlWjOE-ORbgbI4Gt8c-MUTGhnv8rupZjIvUly7lw1zdG4hRdSys1fVEyNynCnevsMRgH8AamPLW6476FLyNFce0lpcviWywazdudBG4Q-lKhWFXy30tJ2ga9elFHC3mVofY=w437-h399" width="437" /></a></div><br /><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1R-EDDpgzmLKMQidN6cetv02B5PbgEZ0l"></a><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1R-EDDpgzmLKMQidN6cetv02B5PbgEZ0l"></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgVof5QDfUTPxjgMeiSlEIx4aFowdWFuzzWHgwbsLzxQsxLmJ710k6YFT4JpQQrhEjTdKJs0I-jpIItghi8N5kAUpWRtUeUC9mHDaDQ_QQ31SFhhj2cl57Uhr-23rnrnzq9SJ3M5movHcD0dj_EIi6dqs_qgf-zsHJqZNSjgO9rm3CjAyCgvY74R7YTDdk" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img alt="" data-original-height="768" data-original-width="980" height="343" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEgVof5QDfUTPxjgMeiSlEIx4aFowdWFuzzWHgwbsLzxQsxLmJ710k6YFT4JpQQrhEjTdKJs0I-jpIItghi8N5kAUpWRtUeUC9mHDaDQ_QQ31SFhhj2cl57Uhr-23rnrnzq9SJ3M5movHcD0dj_EIi6dqs_qgf-zsHJqZNSjgO9rm3CjAyCgvY74R7YTDdk=w438-h343" width="438" /></a></div><br /><p></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-52689926061517300142022-12-21T11:25:00.001-08:002024-01-16T13:46:08.034-08:00Kerry–last of 2022<p>This is the last doll for 2022. She is a commission for a friends daughter in law. The customer made certain requests and while I did try to include everything she asked for there were a couple of things that are adapted from what she talked about. It all came together regardless. The customer is happy and that’s all that matters. </p><p>So here is Kerry. She is approx. 12” standing, the chair makes the overall size approx. 14”. Her heads, hands and feet are clay. I experimented with giving her a clay breast plate, the arms are clay and the lower legs as well.</p><p>Her jacket is a faux leather, pants are a knit fabric as is her t-shirt. The actual person is blonde, but I had to go with what my senses told me and as it turns out, she recipient actually dyed her hair this colour…. synchronicity..??</p><p>There are little bits of bling here and there from her flip flops to her messy bun. I made a selection of mini books and magazines and tote bags to carry them in, along with a little stack of her mini business cards. So here she is…</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi7oxLfrhQjc9pEGmsq4KIrOU2M4poi7xm9OWmLQCoyfqjcpwOoKp_PKjJCBm8-wf-Az-fpYsg6wK-EbjPAid-2mwTYalVemOITih5aqf4560wL2V2Qvywfsp4CM04pIMCWOuKkFRTU3XNZzIdCHDI1CLmFVlvvsfoaUduOw3JGRNuDv6ZxVKbC1jisJms/s2372/kerry01.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; She is a pumpkin girl created in an online class with Karen Baker. I always enjoy Karen’s classes, you can always be sure of learning new techniques. This doll has a clay pumpkin head. Her hands are the vines coming from the pumpkin. Her feet were going to be the same, but it just changed along the way to be come leather shoes.</p><p>She is wearing a pair of pantaloons, striped socks, a cotton skirt. Her blouse is silk and tied at the wrists are strips of the skirt fabric. Her vest is a boucle type of fabric and the look is finished with cowl for her neck. She can free stand, but I’ve chosen to have her sitting. </p><p>The whole look is completed with a basket of felt oak leaves, a pumpkin, cotton and felt acorns, and a sprinkle of real acorns donated by a friend. Enjoy</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1c7zgsQSIGlZkwkWBHz95SZzXzlnbVlYP"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjTSc1K7dHKcP_3kak2rere5mJUBzgH6T2sXagm7ct4RcF0UN7tqYAvFYJW2YZBdZyY5hMn7jPTod_El2_cIwJWNwH7R03l0LRWCi9q7CAo64gGbWB7tu2RGced9vNlSiFNQTW9CjgyzO9oaUVI6MAvpTYhOB3WusLGGjkoqEL9fPGwSLh39AmTc7nzcpY" style="margin-left: 1em; He’s a bit cranky and doesn’t care who knows it. Carl has his reasons, but he’s going to be a gentleman and keep it to himself. But those who know Carl, know why he can be a bit snarky. He’s a senior who doesn’t know what it means to slow down. He is packed up with some supplies and is ready to take bike tour of the island. In his pouch he carries maps and other needs for his trip. </p><p>Carl is my original design. He stands approx. 10” tall. He is made with polymer clay, head and hands. I’ve used various fabrics to create him. His boots, satchel and goggles are leather. Pants are fleece jogging fabric. His sweater is made with a cord I made using the Diva Cord Maker. I created his hat/helmet with FOSS, which is a heat set material that is used by costumers. You can create shapes with this, by using a heat gun and molding it the required shape. It was then painted with acrylic paints.</p><p>To finish Carl, I made this bike for him from a kit.</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1dgIBJP5C9AVBu7eVoOX4w9tX-ymJq6gX"></a></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; The name of the class is Retro Cane Jack Rabbit. A fun class creating mosaic tiles with polymer clay and a bottle.</p><p>We made tiny mosaic tiles with the number of colours you choose. The tiles are then fashioned onto a bottle, along with tiny green leaves to create the illusion of them growing out from behind the tiles.</p><p>My favourite part of Ohren is his ears. Inside the ears, we also added the mosaic tiles. I gave him big lashes, it gives such character. Whenever my cat drops his whiskers, I scoop them up and that’s what I used for Ohren’s whiskers. </p><p>I added light smudges of green paint on the ears and face for interest. He’s finished off with a lime green ribbon around his neck. It picks up the subtle touches of green paint. Enjoy…</p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><img border="0" data-original-height="613" data-original-width="329" height="881" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhiJtp5v6nQ-0oB-h1DZs_eBpWjNh2syI0ZeZvHOryFnbekZ_IYwvqqj8xlo_Sz376FNT0DSEMhHO6TzIutq_3hYnZSSHyZNJr5G25YiHunp8w7WeV58bbZntVoxB9d6YYSqCqWRRd0rgdrIB-vrpQQWPuF6_t7uZuwGlm3zkOlXvn6_IEZnK60mR_6fyA/w474-h881/ohren01.JPG" width="474" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><br /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><img border="0" data-original-height="611" data-original-width="309" height="930" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiISiIpQyfwUJknLf9-VQLcN1FL3ZCMvaWqU-URK9C7d55906tuRUr5ddtPbECen3gM3Veboz-IMIO0P5drOmNYOYwQ5axAcVIrb3pZ8FySoZ5t85S5nVei1eAyIxtKQfm0fGi4IuLEQeRf-uI6ALw_i-HGts9od7S888oF_0XUNuSirOrVkP0b6qTXWlk/w472-h930/ohren02.JPG" width="472" /></a></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><br /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><img border="0" data-original-height="616" data-original-width="414" height="700" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjyxtWwYGyYNcqt65A2023qTvDFII-TIBW7NN1ItpXZFaSWfFiNXDL5ZIpz5RCq95uGrFejevrhNDQQIIN-gGmATt6qJuI6FgoP7kKjYUYxTkp9yg1Gkrt7ciUkekf4zXnS0zAdEmjJYlO9Z6GENeJkN3KY907NMirCnsXY-W5V45DLUDz8n3Vc3wknSf8/w471-h700/ohren03.JPG" width="471" /></a></span><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><br /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><img border="0" data-original-height="480" data-original-width="534" height="425" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhEXv2_TNsT93qLzP40y3NNW_EV0kG79U2ce6NeI0MJDbUW7pq_dH8DRQVaEuXHySQyQId1RTPL3j7STYi4rsBrWR_clrFvp0mr_4I1QBjKAaVlkj1V0sgfhF-klIj1_PQ29qfRdtCMiwVhzymAg39-lmZXF5-kRiWrzzjrlbEIziOEard-8a158-6FHXQ/w472-h425/ohren04.JPG" width="472" /></a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><br /></a></div></div></div></div><span style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=12EzwtfT9BFiy5ofmR1NSp3dKMLPSDbNu"><img border="0" data-original-height="590" data-original-width="443" height="622" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEihwCDFPuS1CyLrQECvuTvbU1QFVDAK-8yxpQjTZAo-GkEUcLyGhpfKufHchwE2Uu_gh-iWcFW5ekL5CvPrLadqr_9LGE4ezN5_1bGgqBwpyPzEeGABtKC0L7a2IGrOrVTeRn8_cZuyNqXtwZYznXlVu3dOUsA87yIhPoQMt3xwnSo-Fyss8_ndXrwcNms/w467-h622/ohren05.JPG" width="467" /></a></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_kBuYOHjd80zvjUdlboW0RZfDuqxirfY"><br /></a></div><p></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-24650915067744722672022-10-19T13:57:00.001-07:002024-01-21T10:37:46.961-08:00Beaded Bookmarks - 2022<p>I decided to try making a couple of bookmarks. These take more beads, but so rewarding. I haven’t used them yet, I’m just focused on making bigger and bigger projects. </p><p>Once you get past bookmarks, you will have to consider getting bead boards that have lots of separate compartments that are labelled with the alphabet to correspond with your patterns. This a board I purchased and is going to be some helpful, when I tackle the projects that use 25 colours plus. CLICK the image to see the product on Etsy.<a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/834807887/pearl-tray-organizer-in-bead-mat-bead?ref=yr_purchases"><img alt="Pearl tray organizer in bead mat / bead mat box organizer image 2" height="411" src="https://i.etsystatic.com/17232065/r/il/5d75ed/2453092691/il_794xN.2453092691_ncp0.jpg" width="547" /></a></p><p>This is another option for making your own board however large or small you want. CLICK the image for the link to the tutorial on Etsy.</p><p><a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/listing/1191739784/diy-bead-tray-tutorial-for-bead?ref=yr_purchases"><img alt="DIY Bead Tray Tutorial for Bead Container Instruction for image 1" height="442" src="https://i.etsystatic.com/34835400/r/il/d62f80/3819738715/il_1140xN.3819738715_bfkx.jpg" width="552" /></a></p><p>And here are the two bookmarks I made…. A hedgehog and some marigolds. Each is 40 columns X 225 rows for a total of 9,000 beads each…</p><p> </p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCtRKDR7OYH5mKgMqXsAGBbbBsD1IVWrttQ6dqKZgKfXUZhS07OidxryyMmYgVroCCxrG6Ti9ghYRwoT-AQmCXEsB_2JNiNubh9spPcNj5G5UTUpH62nJstzE6eOvJGUsDVLJBAacuTD6hNt8khOfjblwfGGs-DpPEdxAcLpnIV5J6wo-IzA6sFwgFLzQ/s1652/hedgehog.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1652" data-original-width="525" height="690" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCtRKDR7OYH5mKgMqXsAGBbbBsD1IVWrttQ6dqKZgKfXUZhS07OidxryyMmYgVroCCxrG6Ti9ghYRwoT-AQmCXEsB_2JNiNubh9spPcNj5G5UTUpH62nJstzE6eOvJGUsDVLJBAacuTD6hNt8khOfjblwfGGs-DpPEdxAcLpnIV5J6wo-IzA6sFwgFLzQ/w219-h690/hedgehog.jpg" width="219" /></a><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwPU6qVrFIek1PbjxbirApoxINaHNUtP-7VuLwvXpVQgGw5dkvFepEQ21c3GgANxA0iJjri7dPmPwSgzcYTPfpM9_gNfJq2WD3EodwlY_BI4i93FWpBXC4i72UP6JnI4j39vGUy38pxFnGST1SNar7APcm4S8Xekrq7DAxZDXB3MrBM-YVQ-wfn95OZic/s1759/marigolds.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1759" data-original-width="583" height="688" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiwPU6qVrFIek1PbjxbirApoxINaHNUtP-7VuLwvXpVQgGw5dkvFepEQ21c3GgANxA0iJjri7dPmPwSgzcYTPfpM9_gNfJq2WD3EodwlY_BI4i93FWpBXC4i72UP6JnI4j39vGUy38pxFnGST1SNar7APcm4S8Xekrq7DAxZDXB3MrBM-YVQ-wfn95OZic/w228-h688/marigolds.JPG" width="228" /></a></div><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QnA01f9oGvz_TA2GFOfcevClF-BpAFHm"><br /></a><p></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-20040346730942816222022-10-19T11:53:00.001-07:002022-10-19T11:53:49.730-07:00Beading Pens - 2022<p>I did a lot of beading to start the year off. I’ve almost always incorporated some type of beads in my doll projects. I’ve never until now, exclusively, beaded projects. I refreshed my beads at the beginning of the year and replaced much of what I had, with mostly Miyuki brand beads as they are so uniform in cut, colour and quality. </p><p>I started with beaded pens thinking that was a great way to learn peyote stitch beading. Here are the pieces I created for pen wraps. There are lots of patterns on Etsy for pen wraps. Enjoy searching them…</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1M3hoYdkVrlxh4yCLO33uapVqNZAyFODI"><img width="289" height="180" title="" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1CVxbX-NpbYHyiEm7Z9U72tODFxOjvidJ" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1um62CQZlLCWZYOscpdvv67UmV2LYl3z9"><img width="306" height="174" title="" style="display: inline; It was time to refresh my older one and this was perfect. I love the retro colours and patterns of fabric I used. Turquoise and Red is a great combination.</p><p>So here she is. She’s quite large, approx. 9” tall. She also has a nice belly that allows me to add a lot of needles on both sides, one side for beading, the other a mix of regular sewing and embroidery. I fastened her to a small wooden block to keep her stable. I used cotton fabric mainly and felt for the facial details.</p><p>The top of her head I’m using for long pins such as hat pins and others. This is a Heather Bailey design. </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1zbiQKGd8sAUCzONKuBc9GXvwmWL75JYb"><img width="602" height="1001" title="" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1lC7EmzWAPShuImzc0aXcJ-1fqBc55ylB" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1k4s6DEDYCcBsvgP_yTf_eQmpOVqK4Ct0"><img width="599" height="806" title="" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ZynKe9sI8Px3fMdWCVexTMqTLYAF7Hjc" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1LVPqoxACoU-Pa4qlcrNCL2LmnGIB1fOO"><img width="601" height="911" title="" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1MMuzRjdeWx3lhEvnwFOe67QUBN7iX8zD" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-43515263648275485852022-10-19T11:14:00.001-07:002022-10-19T11:14:36.862-07:00Baroque Ornament - 2022<p>This is a recent design by Michelle Munzone. It’s a larger size ornament that might be better suited to hang from a hook, where it could be seen on all sides. It’s approx. 6” tall and has many sides to it. </p><p>The face is made with a press mold, or you could sculpt a face with a flat back. She is trimmed with a number of different embellishments such as beads, ribbon, lace. The fabric I’ve used is an Italian silk lining, used in making men’s suits.</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1HNOe46-YOf-zYvEIUJnX2mIUcq85cbiA"><img width="408" height="820" title="baroque1" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="baroque1" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1D07dzR1KPvuq63e7EBViEPz-l2FINr6x" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1pBYHeKhmlckSGvy9BgXSraCOPANnJpaO"><img width="546" height="510" title="baroque2" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="baroque2" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1sEuvgN2-zXLvO-RLqvId-EHkgwYC27So" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1YwUVusEB00QvxYcONAkBRXSQvGADj2Ow"><img width="547" height="583" title="baroque3" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="baroque3" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ZdfkqHw5jzbgQ1jF5SJXDEjhqqq5X3CV" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ocr1p8rdbT4lNYumD4inM69lZDoX5M8x"><img width="543" height="891" title="baroque4" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="baroque4" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1yHjetHYzYFXMLrLpSan12-eBsh-JiAj6" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-18348634089521789702022-10-07T13:25:00.001-07:002022-10-07T13:25:41.194-07:00White Raven - 2021<p>I am so in love with this doll… This is my second doll from designs by Carmen Alana Tibbets of Agosia Arts. The first one is from March 18 2020. I did two rabbits, named Licorice Allsorts and Oliver. If you put one of those name in the search bar on the right, you can zoom right over to see them.</p><p>The design I’m calling White Raven. Alana’s version is in grey tones. <a href="https://www.etsy.com/ca/shop/AgosiaArtsDigital">Click here</a> for her site on Etsy. This is my version, a homage to an area up island from here where there are actual White Raven’s. Raven’s are beautiful and smart already, but now the added feature of being a rare version of them. </p><p>I had to give her a crown, of course. She is comprised of leather, upholstery fabric, felt and I quilted a piece of silk with batting to make her slippers and gloves. The front of her jacket is beaded on a piece of lace cutaway from the design, here and there are sprinkles of embellishments. She is jointed like her other designs.</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1lf3lBfsB8TRzBdjE08Avoq6WVzmPx7mW"><img width="275" height="521" title="sparkle02" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="sparkle02" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1oCrXhJkMPFVX2F_YKpV1VAFkg63-vXP8" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_dIQlGlC1uKCLm-fu2oj7dd0HWYyPEde"><img width="330" height="484" title="sparkle03" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="sparkle03" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1tNcnR_0FiLMeGzl6JoGe_AYJYy8LGOg8" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=14XibsBGOfdqmYz8pPr-z3OnfH4mOpNaD"><img width="621" height="559" title="sparkle09" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="sparkle09" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1GVMOkn3nOGZwQAi5shqd8C_yqgK0_j8a" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QUgOjm-7egRVVvRtlZ10G3dSKxiqF4ZO"><img width="620" height="704" title="sparkle11" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="sparkle11" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1il7krVK58OQx-qbl_VMs49yEjF2OvpCG" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1IRxhTVf9aM053i-QrJ5elfHbVTl838Rw"><img width="619" height="462" title="sparkle06" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="sparkle06" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=19As7y2j-agRBmlcgrnxjKW64L2ePPJTf" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1JSgq7OV7uMIyMGBWNrEIldrQ6ThS9RWu"><img width="619" height="573" title="sparkle07" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="sparkle07" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QD3OR1PCWQPjeC9LOc1322q7ylPQLY0H" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=15U0tZJY7ZD0bFMF1JGA6OruBbBK8DCQ4"><img width="328" height="551" title="Sparkle12" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Sparkle12" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1sfCpFTv1S2hrKhbo4xjILkRdI60v1dbv" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-64579947300400013642022-10-07T13:09:00.001-07:002022-10-07T13:09:10.316-07:00The Pumpkins - 2021<p>Just in time for this Halloween, except I kept them out all year, they were too cute to put away for the time being. This is a design by Christine Shively, I think the name is the same. A lot of fun making them, and you can use small bits of fabric. The dolls themselves are only about 6” tall. I used a few bits and pieces of things to embellish them and they were ready. I have some hooks on the wall, so they will probably continue to stay there for who knows how long. She used to have a website with all her patterns, but I don’t seem to have the link…</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1aDNAwUH-75WdrT0_P-UMwnWNo1gwyy5x"><img width="608" height="598" title="beanandasterpumpkin02" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanandasterpumpkin02" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1aa5YSa8SMdqypdMeslme5JNXfg3QOHO_" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1hOnF8u33ZClV6VaZiyq-U_SKbhoEWFzO"><img width="610" height="684" title="beanandasterpumpkin03" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanandasterpumpkin03" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1IGpr0kKWCXNQjz_PYTrZkCmUC0WerIFV" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1SJyYfxko-8o60KiEHmWymR5rM_qAb81W"><img width="433" height="456" title="beanpumpkin04" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanpumpkin04" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1tDedbKM-aN0XiStQDWoMN1Fl3eluk_eq" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1XjXtZZqJk6zcpQPC6Y4SdC8tDdyaYXa5"><img width="438" height="558" title="beanandasterpumpkin05" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanandasterpumpkin05" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QwnTUWh_SBica3ouHptts42aurgkZ-rr" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1kjEeIMcJ_mZa4AVWrtD-EOHf6EUI5teM"><img width="449" height="234" title="beanandasterpumpkin08" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanandasterpumpkin08" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1uSlti0M80qb3t6ri1AzJJTceTM4XUZZw" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1fIWAbL2C-yf29sDb5opB1PO0_60HYDN-"><img width="446" height="391" title="beanandasterpumpkin07" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanandasterpumpkin07" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Aiwr_yEZ1owKKTJ8sTtk9BLOC6ulpJrI" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1KcsXhQYgoSm9kWjS-yRR-itrdeCpSXtR"><img width="443" height="207" title="beanandasterpumpkin06" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="beanandasterpumpkin06" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Enrv0RnYiHwFX-G4WIST8XVfxBZMgxQL" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-15628759664883278462022-10-06T19:49:00.001-07:002022-10-06T19:49:29.336-07:00Dimples - 2021<p>This is from a class with Ankie Daanen at <a href="https://www.academy.niada.org/">Niada Academy</a>. This is Dimples. A clown made with paper clay and polymer clay. I used the polymer clay for the hands and shoes. The head is paper clay. </p><p>I created the boots in a way to compliment the colours of the clown costume. The hat is my own as well. Otherwise, the costume is all Ankie. She makes the best dolls doesn’t she…. I’m so happy with how Dimples turned out. There aren’t enough girl clowns, so that’s who I decided she should be.</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1w8xcn99s1_iFb0q6tqcdDd6leXlA_zMo"><img width="294" height="642" title="dimples01" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples01" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1D1a0LLwiUpQZjMex5aIgxIYOftot5xH6" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ddvXpZnjxjoqslQzom-aCzFNTcbt6P_k"><img width="275" height="643" title="dimples02" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples02" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1JQBJoK1ZO9Id0HgPCf3PiTBH4VLGc-Dg" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ut5I0vo-KFDdeYlmyfhh5zTZAl6hx9-N"><img width="582" height="692" title="dimples14" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples14" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1S0mqwejxoW-n94WnAbfsy9BdnAohQGpo" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1dX0M2bbihmAT1HMXbN_odpaFo8sWyXLi"><img width="580" height="563" title="dimples07" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples07" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1W6idupgREE3Fur1cvJ1bHWLq3Fd0MW-Q" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1K6owayMdTmk7N8Q10rDuY_o8FTICXRRL"><img width="580" height="594" title="dimples06" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples06" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1mxKstB3uliMtJvNmNHkZ8w_O750_O0Aw" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=145-7AhQnkPoxw0EQB3LTlkp6J8zyqk52"><img width="580" height="615" title="dimples08" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples08" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1ssLWQENiwNJ4LtJxQWYkTPKskjZmKL3M" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1WEqdNWhgiEH3xTL5PVFU0YZPdN5Qw3aM"><img width="576" height="400" title="dimples03" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="dimples03" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1MyFFo4FhaZCx3wr8p3JULiWVOf63UOKv" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-56259891457359902752022-10-06T19:35:00.001-07:002022-10-06T19:35:34.098-07:00Beading projects - 2021<p>I am by no stretch a jewelry maker. I don’t even wear a lot, but since I had so much time on my hands, I decided to dabble in a bit of it. I prefer more of a bohemian theme, nothing fancy or ornate… just simple, and easy to wear.</p><p>The first picture is of some beaded crochet necklaces. They are connected with magnetic closures. I did a number of classes on Artsy Bohemian Online School. The mini clay books in a previous post, was from her site as well. <a href="https://www.artsybohemian.com/">Robin Dudley Howes</a>. Just click her name to see what she offers. </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1AmI1fARaiiptEIXF-4OXROHrBuXXUcr4"><img width="413" height="1190" title="bohemian robin2" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="bohemian robin2" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1NjBpXLIhrrTeHD8tVrQ6wfv9eogPiA3B" border="0"></a></p><p>And these pieces are bracelets made from various designers patterns on Etsy. They are very easy to do and I enjoyed learning some new again. Never stop learning….</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=146jQkaXHX4S7ZAVzveafDiFA-tl_RQLU"><img width="467" height="594" title="bracelets various patterns2" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="bracelets various patterns2" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1syE-C42mWvnuigFjYVMs7SUjlGj6u1uo" border="0"></a></p><p>The last project for this post, is this little beaded tree. It’s very small, about 3” approx. I fell in love with the Navette beads I saw in a video, so I went searching…. </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1CT9pwk2ViyjfgjHmg3rjT0r_g7maNk10"><img width="401" height="648" title="" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1nTJbKWRC3V206cdKLbCF9bhbcQwHCPj8" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-43261304159464174422022-10-06T17:19:00.001-07:002022-10-06T17:19:52.305-07:00Marion – A commission - 2021<p>A woman saw some dolls I had made, and contacted me to ask if I would make a doll for her sister that lives in Saskatchewan. She gave me some background information that I asked for, so I could make sure to personalize it as much as possible for her. The sister had requested bold bright clothing but when she saw what I did, she changed her mind and thought what I did was perfect. It turned out, her sister said it was just right too. ;o)</p><p>I made a few things based on the information I was given, such as the books. Those are made with clay and embellishments. I tried to include references to as many things as possible. She was very happy with the end result and that’s what you want to hear…</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1N3weVM0cylOsAC8qGWiApqGB3lFH6Boo"><img width="289" height="486" title="DSC04877" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC04877" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=15tyXhviF2qcDYuF2mKbrioOZ8m4JE1hl" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=15GgH1mNEMEVxGmPGnr737Bi0o8Up8UMa"><img width="287" height="485" title="Marion03" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion03" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1jmajVTrFLi932r6C0JD1YiOZXSXG1INM" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1BNcyyE4lZONqjGuLNruxvH0s37CkreYp"><img width="588" height="951" title="DSC04895" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC04895" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1exx1g3ERHudw5Nmls_dwQRKYiX_7WFwU" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1A3dp3Nc9Xho4BpIKql-YNdkathhZpDhh"><img width="581" height="466" title="Marion04" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion04" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1GKca0UNg9I9dtVoKnMjiqhS6UgJPiwai" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1H9vnTgFscG3xSCljSxj9iuNLGdNd0Jth"><img width="578" height="578" title="Marion05" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion05" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=16Mc7FiW5BS-_BS5LNKqmuO14RQBrxc21" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1IkXehAKC2rBR9e7wAaYUerv3cXcO51jp"><img width="573" height="526" title="Marion06" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion06" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1eEvhGVDXQAItaHbg9OexZnMU_TFv5MOp" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1kwjeAbuQ4HmrHKCgNKn4gqwpyL1DzvQ8"><img width="576" height="450" title="Marion07" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion07" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1N5Q37CRFQrIuYRV4FM2s_ZR_gZoQq2dP" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1RalMDG3qAWn4M3D6KIM5hcbFVgSLmCCd"><img width="577" height="317" title="Marion10" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion10" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1DGGy6XYMTUNUPS_3W-OxZk6Br5gvV2WD" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1yPOR26_umTx8Gj-DgY-87tLQyNoXN9sN"><img width="579" height="349" title="Marion09" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="Marion09" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1P2dyrzhD_pfMO-3DCPgKBl3VsswvZpWg" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-15544505886427046552022-10-06T17:07:00.001-07:002022-10-06T17:07:02.586-07:00Alice and more - 2021<p>Now catching up with 2021 projects. This is Alice, she is from a class with Leslie O’Leary last year. I took the class because she was teaching some techniques that i haven’t done before, and I’m all about techniques, to keep doll making interesting… </p><p>Her eyes are big and bold… She needed something to hold, so I made this little white rabbit for her. I have a box of doll sneakers and seemed appropriate to give her a pair for all the places she goes in that rabbit hole. </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1XDtfZjF62RpX0-ywofz51dA78wcSn25Z"><img width="237" height="564" title="LAlice01" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="LAlice01" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1GutG-rQ1cAvb2MoJIbhKlKjD9V50LeM0" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1bSUln8L6U4Z-tUQWtqh8OUpmVlrJnNee"><img width="360" height="333" title="LAlice06" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="LAlice06" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_SFVZGCu6o00dGuuigRx_PNhiKu6kN9J" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1q_vJPNkURxu1SRHA604pieo0rL2JqYuU"><img width="617" height="566" title="LAlice08" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="LAlice08" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1S-GLmzDv2EbQ0FxDyrFigT4b3F7phkhd" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=15Q9l5sXo5uk10kJBV9STV3MtGhUoiFMe"><img width="619" height="560" title="LAlice07" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="LAlice07" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1kNywIkktVs5P0sdhnCPujlfT2qRVCj1U" border="0"></a></p><p>Next we have Claire’s fairies for Christmas last year. This is the Royal Nutcracker. I’m embarrassed to say how long I’ve had the pattern. I pull it out with the intention of making it, Christmas passes and it goes away again… but last Christmas I was determined to make it. </p><p>Most of it is self explanatory except the front and shoulders. I used an embroidered lace and stitched that in place and added the rest of the trims around it.<a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1qqraJGUkTuLwwlBra3ZpjQGZNwLdHevj"><img width="624" height="680" title="11royal" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="11royal" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1PtDHbrc_AohKbEI_FujyM-HhWdfHWoeI" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1WZkz7PoDLnm0VF7wkiwty71WMiSGii9j"><img width="622" height="654" title="02royal" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="02royal" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1NLx3VUvoBgO2DfeOB4Uqnnjbz4LeGXSJ" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1PmlaAKbfr9YJEAORnVFpqK0AMO3y30F4"><img width="625" height="601" title="03royal" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="03royal" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1hoBCMGcSUeWvd88Ysgcv2c32uu9_3Ma1" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1dL-7TseeE-qw0J7GzxWy8QQ3Btuv3x8L"><img width="315" height="601" title="05royal" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="05royal" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=16mzDu3eVS1h-C7ZtyXGFFbNAChyL6rK6" border="0"></a><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1kFr4IhHzIyqvMhcnSdhHdnFpco0vibzW"><img width="292" height="610" title="01royal" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="01royal" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1OlJw0R33F7yoGQAU9-SoAvyhmojMEKKa" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-22723896134901891952022-10-01T11:48:00.001-07:002022-10-07T13:26:48.798-07:00Feathered Friends 2020<p>Here are the last projects for 2020. You don’t think you’re doing much until you start posting them. I just kept making things, saving the pictures on the computer and didn’t even notice how much was there…. ;o)</p><p>These are some mixed media pieces. I’m planning more, but am currently working on a clay figure from a Karen Baker class. But on to the birds.</p><p>This first one is Owl Capone. He is adapted from a pattern by Ann Wood. He is made with a variety of cotton, wool, and velvet. His beak is leather. I had a hat the perfect size and just embellished it to match the rest of his body. I love love love the clown shoes I made for him, and I gave him cuffs on the lower legs. </p><p>The wings are made with layers of different cotton and wool fabrics. The eyes are big buttons. He stands approx. 16” tall.</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=16eR621uRg6-M82lwNTowXGUlti3Z2Mv_"><img width="481" height="965" title="01Capone" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="01Capone" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1rWrnKNBJK4ii3BrzVmHmp33I5XqNWhMG" border="0"></a> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1_ktZd9OvQdd7MmVmVWPi4WmZK8rRAlSh"><img width="477" height="555" title="04Capone" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="04Capone" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1scx7z7aYVageT_vsv-wZke1OJsRZ7txt" border="0"></a> <a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1H8HGACMFlBQm2-BcnFcUq_iYhPq6Kho5"><img width="489" height="521" title="03Capone" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="03Capone" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1rR5twgEGehRjHyZBo4K65ijZX2M652wm" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1NZUqFPFH0znAamaqYvfm5qFiBfuMidSR"><img width="496" height="1076" title="08Capone" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="08Capone" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1w7elVXbdcBD6or_4W9izKrEH7VXnfalo" border="0"></a></p><p>This owl is Blink. She is approx. 12” tall. Her body is made with the same fabrics as Owl Capone, and embellished in much the same way. I made a purple hat for her, and gave her purple boots. I did a polymer clay challenge last year and the boots on Blink, are from the pieces I made in that year long challenge. </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1CcSa60jTsazO9_0xboHfenaXEsh23RUD"><img width="496" height="1040" title="02Blink" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="02Blink" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1c8sPA9AcwRNpoYhDFXbGpJigGX9nEy6V" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1sx5yY9-YH-betOT7q-Dv22nbXdeQARgV"><img width="498" height="741" title="08Blink" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="08Blink" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Z8pzKVXRVW1hFxxTgGvyHMYTSOm0w7gS" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1QL0_zpF0PcFXfHqOIZwOxMU2I-R1uxeG"><img width="502" height="672" title="04Blink" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="04Blink" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1CyFzn0WwzTgk8wE5EIwVu6obzHAPpUsk" border="0"></a></p><p>This next bird is Bitsy. She is so darn cute. Standing only 6” tall, barely, she lights up the room with her bright yellow plumes. She is my own creation based on the Goldfinches we get in our garden.</p><p>Her body is layered, starting with cotton, then overlayed with wool fabric, yellow feathers, black yellow tail feathers. Her hat is made with felt. I sculpted her head and boots with clay. She is my second favourite bird to date. The one after this is my favourite. </p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=15lna-PCwqrNXX4WUwxIoEuBZQy5kJmS6"><img width="498" height="759" title="01B" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="01B" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1l-Ey3fHj_jfpMMIj_Quc9Z20vYmf-2Lm" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Cvc4_Lwea9t_Pe_dwV_t5qeJgErtqWOF"><img width="498" height="833" title="05B" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="05B" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1vXY7RXCP-Ny_nexybbrFcgq3_4W8j2xz" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=10dE8Z7I2wYNLpTKtKEWxaxhYgoELXtVz"><img width="500" height="528" title="06B" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="06B" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1wtbyftAI15pHqCqOgsE0KYWW770g9kpn" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1k2MKZEQaAdYKtKrK1h7XAB8_JStloeU4"><img width="499" height="660" title="08B" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="08B" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1GU2COwbQiFHYudvIHGlB2NQliH1fGGXu" border="0"></a></p><p>The last bird for now, is Ms. Downey. She is another of my own designs and is again based on a local bird, our Downey Woodpeckers.</p><p>I’ve really been enjoying using wool fabrics for my birds. I love the textures and the gorgeous patterns in the fabric. I also love the flexibility of being able to manipulate the fabric. Her underbody is overlayed with Minky fabric. So here we go.</p><p>Her beak and feet are clay. I made her hat and gave her red roses to embellish to make that bold statement to go with her black and white body. She has button eyes. The feet are from those polymer clay challenge projects from last year. I did a lot of pre planning when I was making those clay pieces. She stands approx. 9” tall. ;o)</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1mJ8WV9Dszgs1BVL_jCH5mb9Y7cr0usNV"><img width="519" height="561" title="DSC03922" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC03922" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1PRBNSZuVuNq2B-aFKK5ty_AuQPiybNmU" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1JO9rKJ3A88TGR3d17By42FMYQpBMLWn7"><img width="524" height="520" title="DSC03924" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC03924" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1eODwCIIDjCzBYOOuPVU2JOa4znejDu9t" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Yo6hzJqwtN6fcN5lpVM1fVdII901g47i"><img width="532" height="286" title="DSC03916" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC03916" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1Et-KVsDOz1E1Dc5I3zFLyt8wmWoD0ij5" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1b2zTcS5Z4tbklhoug7N3sMAW5iBNuxjz"><img width="532" height="389" title="DSC03915" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC03915" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1yOF5gQzHTFW4ByT45VNPP1ni9rpGTrx9" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1BJtJUCIY2QmzVcmPJBK4pPafTSApbJc1"><img width="532" height="518" title="DSC03926" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC03926" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1WgV6qJdasYG_fKyLO-oBedzMnxv-wPip" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4841494704793595239.post-55269014565882151772022-10-01T11:04:00.001-07:002022-10-01T11:04:14.647-07:00Molly and Ella Impish<p>Molly and Ella were my only clay figures this year. They are so cute. I took a class with Sherrie Nielson making her very cute “Brownies” The style of doll is very flexible to create in your own style. This is what came to me as I worked on them. </p><p>These are sisters and I just couldn’t resist the mullet hair styles. They’re outfits are made with wool scraps and embellished just a little. Check out those nails. ;o)</p><p>They are so bright in colour, they didn’t need anything more. Their necks are jointed so they can turn to look at each other or anywhere else they want to…. Really love these girls, they are on a shelf where I can see them every day.</p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=10p1ueB96kcMjfPrieUsCVS80h-qO6nDn"><img width="579" height="536" title="DSC04711" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC04711" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1wFbOMY2xje5_8fZ_CVI-ItclF3WJ3bdz" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1N17snalJ-jMdiEuEPlGtJ8GfDHdzRsdw"><img width="573" height="697" title="DSC04708" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC04708" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1SP1QslZA0rLhmVXoNVMS3N-O-W22Z3on" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1BRZsD4lNwdusMUYAlOQo5tb5qjVi966D"><img width="575" height="605" title="DSC04706" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC04706" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1uFjUCVWP_GgY9oWvs17oDKqdQBS1gh9h" border="0"></a></p><p><a href="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1c_17sY4D20Vo4WbrmV3v2PmQ56TZIaMY"><img width="577" height="453" title="DSC04712" style="display: inline; background-image: none;" alt="DSC04712" src="https://drive.google.com/uc?id=1bdNergjmdHi2sgyCg3n8Yi3Q2_UeGLAV" border="0"></a></p>Northbrook Designshttp://www.blogger.com/profile/12436918335122364397noreply@blogger.com1
