Orca Tree Toppers

A Christmas tree isn’t complete without a topper. This year I’ve just made two of them and can’t make more. Just not enough time. After this weekend, I still have three big dolls to make, so once those are done, so am I…

I found this very cute pattern for an Orca themed ornament. While trying to figure out what to do with the tree toppers, it came to me. What better way to bring our Canadian West Coast into Christmas, than to include the Orca in a tree topper. My original plan was to make these ornaments, but this worked out much better for this year anyway.

While I used the basic pattern from Cathy at Cheswick Company, for the bottom of the tree topper I did make up my own wording. On three of the panels, I’ve spread out the the words, A Merry West Coast Christmas. I made a wreath to go around the Orca’s neck and for an added touch of colour, the same kind of trim at the base of the topper.

On top is a Jumping Orca, reduced in size from the original pattern. I’ve made two colours of the topper. One navy blue and will show you the three panels, and one in a rustic red.

  1. I always thought tree toppers were fairies or angels but this is unusual and wonderful. Romona thanks for downloading my pattern. I look forward to seeing what you will do with it. I am so excited about it and can't wait to see what everyone does.
