A few weeks ago I was asked if I would like to put a doll in a show that is coming up at the Sidney Museum. Of course I said yes, what an opportunity to share what you love to do with others. I will be putting not one but four dolls in the show. I’ve been part of a show with other doll artists but this is different. I will be the only local doll maker showing their work, so how exciting is that. I feel so honoured to be asked and that they are supporting me as a local artisan. These are the girls I will be displaying.
and my latest, Galena and child. Galena is Celtic for Calm
For anyone living in the Greater Victoria area or nearby, I hope you will be able to make the time to come to Sidney sometime between the 5th of June and the end of July. The Museum is open from 10 – 4 everyday. They are show casing dolls of the past 100 years and won’t it be fun to see the dolls from so many years ago to present day. That will tell such a story of artisans past and present and in the many ways they were created with the tools of the day.
Follow this link for directions and information about this and other upcoming shows at the Sidney Museum.
There will be two special days at the museum during the show. The first one is June 21st, American Girl Doll Day
The other special day will be July 24th, Barbie Doll Day
If you are a collector of either of these dolls, this will be of particular interest. Or if know those who are, be sure to pass the word along to them. If you just love dolls, come and see the display, you won’t disappointed. This will be a really good show, and with over 400 dolls on display there should be something for everyone.
I hope you will be able to come and spend some time, bring your family and enjoy a day out in Sidney. There are wonderful shops and eateries in Sidney to satisfy all your needs, to say nothing of the great waterfront walking and sightseeing you can do. You can make a day of it, even enjoy an ice cream cone while relaxing on a nearby bench.
