Moon Raiser

Earlier this year I signed up for Patti LaValley’s class, Moon Raiser. Poor thing was made but lacking her embellishments. Finished her today and off to the shop. Someone has already taken her home from there.
I think that has to be the fastest turn around I’ve ever had….and what a relief. It’s been a bad year for me for sales, but in the last week or so, three dolls have sold. It’s easy to get discouraged, but I just plod along and finally things seem to be changing direction.
Have others found the same thing this year?

  1. The local stores take such a high percent that it is not worth your time. I belong to a Quilt Guild which has a Quilt Show every other year. It will be in March 2014. Sometimes the doll club does good and they do not change us as we bring in people to see the art dolls. One of our local Cafe' owners loves and buys dolls. She wants to have us do a show at her Cafe'. May do that this spring.

  2. It's hard to sell dolls as it's considered a luxury but I have noticed from other doll makers I know that things are picking up. I don't think people intentionally go out to buy a doll unless they go to a venue specifically for that purpose ie doll show, quilt show. So I think your doing very good if you are selling from a store. Have you considered online?

  4. Romona, she is great! Congratulations on your sale. And yes, it seems to come in bursts, sales that is. I hadn't been selling a darn thing on Etsy and now, poof, 3 sales in a week. Doesn't seem to be a rhyme nor reason, just keep creating friend, your dolls are wonderful! Deb

  5. Catching up with you Ramona. You have been working like a busy bee! Love your ornaments and your doll. I have not done much as I am away at the moment but hope to get back into the swing when I get back home
