Update on my quilt !!

It's amazing how much time passes when you get busy. I can't believe how long it's been since my last post. Must remember to add that to my list of "to do"... "Must post more regularily"...
My quilt was finished in record time. I don't do a lot of quilting but I have a few smallish projects I hope to get to. Some are to help finish off my bedroom redo, others are things like placemats, table runners and the like. So without further delay, here is how the quilt finished. First is a picture of how the pattern came together. I just love it, it's so vibrant. Andrea and I agreed to call it the Goldstream Quilt. Goldstream is a beautiful park/creek bed and mountain all rolled into one. It's lush and tranquil, and when there is a brilliant orange sunset, what a beautiful site it can be. So the name seemed appropriate.
Goldstream is also a fantastic place to watch Mother Nature at work in the fall. The salmon return to Goldstream to swim up the stream to lay their eggs and the whole cycle of life begins anew. It's not always pleasant to see the seagulls waiting for them to die after, so they can feed on the dead and dying salmon, but it is the natural process and who are we to interfere with Mother Nature anymore than we already do.
The next picture shows the stitch that Andrea used when she put the quilt on the frame. It's a crescent shape stitch pattern. I somehow thought it looked like the ripples in the creek when a pebble is tossed in. Imagine how long it would take me to try and fumble my way through all this stitching at home, pretty much impossible, she did this in about 3 hours or less. The quilt measures the size of a twin bed, approx. 72" X 85".
And lastly, here is a picture of the stitching I did by hand on the edges and the fabric I used for the back of the quilt. It was just a fluke with the backing. Her supplier brought that fabric without Andrea actually ordering it, he just added it to the order. I saw it and snagged it before anyone else had a chance... What can I say, I saw the perfect thing.... ;o) I hope you like this and I will try and be more diligent about posting.

  2. Hi Sandi, Thanks so much. I was so taken with the colours, I just had to make it. I originally intended a rose and green mix, but when we started pulling out the orange tones, I quickly changed direction...Romona
