Christmas 1

We went for a little walk after supper to start collecting pictures of some of the christmas decorations around the neighbourhood. While I was taking some pictures it occured to me, that everyone, and I mean everyone is going wild with these blow up christmas displays. I thought it might be fun to show you some of those just around a couple of blocks here. I couldn't get pictures of all of them because some of them don't light up well and you have to see them up close and personal to really enjoy them...
So here are a few to start off with. I will take more pictures on the weekend and post again... Wish it would snow soon, that's always so much more fun to go looking at the lights when the snow is fallling.. However I live in hopes. The forecast is calling for snow on Christmas Day.....YES !!!! I will go and through snowballs at the neighbours. Who says you can't be a kid your whole life.....
This first one has a big beautiful polar bear in the background with Santa's all around.

Here's one with some snowmen singing carols, while Rudolph tries to extricate Santa from a chimney 2 sizes to small...

Looks like Santa has found alternate forms of transportation..

And who could forget the Grinch at Christmas. Is he trying to join in the caroling or thinking of something naughty.... Or could it be that he's making darn sure that no one misbehaves....

I hope if you're fortunate enough to live in areas where people are able to decorate and share their love of the season, that you'll be able to go around and admire the work they've put into their decorations. Christmas means different things to different people. For me, it's the spirit of the season...the bright colours, the music, the movies (my collection grows bigger each year), the opportunity to enjoy treats for the New Year brings the dreaded angst about how much we shouldn't have eaten.
It also, sadly, means that there are those out there who wish the holidays would just be over with because it brings back memories for them they would just as soon forget. If you know someone like that, why not just make a little time for them and try to make some happy memories for them. Sometimes all it takes is a little kindness to help them make it through.
Well, those are my pictures for tonight. I hope you enjoy them and I will have more next time....

  1. I LOVE snowmen so the last one is definitely my favourite. Ro, you are such a caring and thoughtful person to mention those who are saddened at Christmas time for whatever reason. For some, this time of year can be a burden with financial pressures also. Each year, we gift a stranger whether they be adult or child....I usually do this through one of the major charities. :)

  2. You know Serena, there are so many lonely people out there at this time of year, it's just nice to smile at people a lot. You never know who you affect in a positive way with just a simple smile.
